Fall is in the Air
There’s been a subtle change in the last week here in DC. The leaves are starting to fall. The humidity has gone away. The heat of the summer is now past. While I miss the discussions and debates with my many international colleagues, I’m finding that it’s good to be back home. We are a great nation, and we need to do well by our people. Being here in DC at this point in history is like being in the middle of a debate of a lifetime. I’ve been advocating healthcare reform since I was enrolled in medical school in the early 1970s. We are now seeing it come to full fruition. Just like I had to pinch myself over the last two years as a kid-from-North-Dakota-living-in-London, now I’m pinching myself as a kid-from-North-Dakota-particpating-in-the-healthcare-debate-of-century. You can feel that coming holiday season. Let’s hope for a wonderful Thanksgiving and Christmas – as noted above – for a lot of reasons.
