The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly of Politics Continues…

The Good: We have a healthcare bill to debate and discuss following Thursday’s unveiling of the House proposal by Speaker Pelosi.  Falling under the threshold set by President Obama, the plan costs $894 billion and will insure 36 million more Americans.  It reduces the deficit by $30 billion over 10 years.  It’s been a long time coming, but we’re not done yet…

The Bad: Everyone loves waking up in the morning and flipping through their favorite newspaper, right?  According to the Audit Bureau of Circulations, newspaper circulation slid 10.6 percent in the last six months, or nearly 18 percent over the last year. With new technology (e.g. my Kindle), we could very well see our favorite newspapers become relics. And, to top it off, Gourmet – my favorite mag – shut down last week.  I’m still in mourning…

The Ugly: Bob McDonnell (R) and Creigh Deeds (D) are locked in the competitive  Virginia Governor’s racewhere it appears McDonnell will succeed.  Meanwhile, Governor Jon Corzine (D) and Chris Christie (R) are in the neck-and-neck New Jersey race.  Both have become a bit ugly in the closing weeks.
