ADOPTS
Dell Services has, over 20-years of experience in more than 1000 hospitals worldwide and has developed and refined an approach to implementation and transformational change that is proven to work and to deliver long term sustainable benefits to hospitals and their staff and patients. The ADOPTS (Assess, Design, Optimise, Prepare, Transform, and Sustain ) methodology has been used with a wide range of vendor solutions including Cerner, MEDITECH, Epic, McKesson and VistA.
ADOPTS encompasses major activities and key work products that will help NHS Trusts to Assess, Design, Optimise, Prepare, Transform, and Sustain the health and social care transformation effort from project initiation through to post go-live support.
-
Assess: Define the environment and enterprise clinical and business needs in response to a problem or change
-
Design: Create the ideal solution and determine how the health and social care environment can support the health, social and business needs of the Trust and stakeholders
-
Optimise: Ensure the effective solution design and change strategy that can best meet health and social care, and business needs
-
Prepare: Positioning the organization for the successful deployment of the solution as demonstrated by benefits realization
-
Transform: Initiating the change that enables the realization of benefits
-
Sustain: Establishing and anchoring the change that enables the ongoing realisation of benefits
Each stage is organised by six domains that focus on the key determinants of success in any clinical information system deployment program:
-
Governance and Leadership: Our practical approach ensures appropriate stakeholder representation, commitment and accountability.
-
Process Redesign: Our toolset enables a detailed assessment of the requirements of the hospital and its staff in providing care and enables an optimisation of process and patient flow with system configuration to maximise value from the system.
-
Change Management: An approach that starts with an assessment of organisational readiness and works to implement change through the development of organisational change agents and training leads to ensure sustainability after implementation is complete. Includes support for a communication strategy and delivery.
-
Clinician Participation and Adoption: A specific focus on the needs of clinicians, leading them to an understanding of the nature and use of the system and the benefits it will bring. This is of prime importance in a world class academic environment where clinicians are looking for enhanced functionality, audit and reporting.
-
Benefits Realisation: Our toolset supports an up-front definition of benefits and then enables measurement throughout and beyond the implementation of their achievement. Focusing on 5 core areas (Safety/ Quality/ Risk, Clinical Adoption, Operational Efficiency, Return on Investment and Evidence Based Decision Making) the SCORE system provides a dashboard view that graphically demonstrates the levels of realization throughout the implementation process. The dashboard also provides an effective audit record as part of the final project evaluation.
-
Technology Implementation: We blend the clinical and process work with our specialist technology skills to bring together a coherent implementation programme that delivers true value.
The ADOPTS methodology and associated toolkit provides the framework with which to ensure Hospitals are safe to ‘Go-Live’.
